January Doll, Stage III - Bead Journal 2010

Though I’ve had a cold over the last couple of days, I couldn’t resist working on the January Doll between sneezes. Her new sleeves are white iridescent Toho Treasures, and silver 11/o round beads.  They match the skirt, which is coming soon.

The sleeves, incidentally, started out with dangling beads instead of ruffles on the edge, but my husband correctly noted that they obscured her hands, and so I went back in with the needle and turned them into loops.

  • wow…you’re just whipping right along! I sure like the turquoise dress and headdress…they set off the neutrals so beautifully….

love what you are doing! I’m interested in how you are attaching the beads to the clay and if you baked the doll before you started beading. It’s beautiful and I am anxiously awaiting the next session.

Hi, beadingprincess. I did bake the doll before I started beading. There’s a wire in the back, strung with beads, that is my starting point for the skirt. I’ll show you how it works in the next set of photos, coming soon!
